Ferrari 550 Barchetta

Designed to be a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the house, the Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina appears as a very special car, as its name and shape enhance the sports racers and legendary sports spiders of the 1960s, probably being the ultimate expression of a sun-lover's Italian automobile. The car model is elegantly distinguished due to the tasteful addition of Carrozzeria Scaglietti equipment as standard, thus making it exciting from every angle. It provides its lucky customers with the joy of communing with nature from the road or track, as well as with the glorious sound of the 485bhp Ferrari V12. The cylinder block, cylinder heads and sump are all in light alloy with Nikasil-coated aluminum wet liners. Ideal weight distribution is ensured by the six-speed gearbox mounted at the rear. Modern technology and styling complete the open-top front-engined V12 Ferrari sports car. Comprising a body-coloured finish to the lower section of the surround, the car model also features a traditional barchetta-style cut to the windscreen of about 4 inches lower than the 550 Maranello. The other distinctive features of the exclusive design are represented by Ferrari badges on the wheelarches, a unique aluminum fuel filler cap and two-piece alloy wheels. The engineers have styled the apertures, aiming to obtain beauty and efficiency, while wind noise, airflow and lighting are improved by the fixed homofocal light clusters. The active safety features are striking as they incorporate protective peripheral elements constituting a high energy absorption system. The braking system of the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina has been improved with Brembo, applying methods from Formula 1 to the 4-piston caliper on 13" front and 12.2" rear rotors. Reflecting Pininfarina's styling and Ferrari's technical specifications, the impressive car model rides on cast magnesium alloy, five-spoke wheels. The sporting and pure character of the car is reflected by the interior, offering undoubted pleasure through leather and carbon-fibre racing-style seats. The rear roll bars provide additional structural rigidity as well as protection for the occupants in case of an accident, and they are leather-trimmed.
