During the 75th International Motor Show in Geneva, in March 2005, Spyker officially introduced the new race car, the Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R. This race version of the production car Spyker C8 Spyder has an engine used in all road cars, the Audi V8 engine.
In 2005 the Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R has brought the Spyker Squadron two major victories by finishing second in its class in September during the LMES 1000km of Nürburgring (LMGT class), Germany and in November during the FIA GT (GT class) race in Dubai. This excellent results determined Spyker to expand its 2006 race program in 2006 and two factory Spyker C8 Spyder GT2Rs were entered in 10 races including Sebring, 24-Hours of Le Mans, all Le Mans Endurance series races and some FIA GT races.
The Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R was developed in-house by Peter van Erp’s technical team within Spyker Squadron and it is mated to Hewland six speed equential gearbox. The model is available to privateers, who are offered by the fcatory full service throughout Europe and the United States.
Spyker Squadron is a good opportunity if becoming a sponsor of ii, since being a sponsor may bring you the membership in the highly selected inner circle of the world’s most renowned race events such as the 24-hours of Le Mans and the 12-hours of Sebring.
