Ferrari FXX Evoluzione

The 2008 Ferrari FXX Evoluzione represents the most advanced GT ever created at Maranello, due to its evolution package which aims to further improve its handling and performance. It is also an innovative programme that was based on the eponymous prototype car. Actually, the engineers developed the FXX prototype exclusively for track driving as part of a specific R&D programme agreed with a selected group of just over 20 clients involving 14 group test sessions and 14 private ones in the last two years. Michael Schumacher, who is known as seven-times Formula 1 World Champion, wanted to join the ranks of the client test drivers, thus offering the programme the benefit of his vast experience on several occasions. The FXX's 6262 cc V12 engine is able to raise a power output of 860 HP at 9,500 rpm, while gear.shifting is covered in just 60 ms, 20 ms less as compared to the previous time, using the additional 1000 rpm produced by the engine. The driver also gets the possibility of choosing between nine different settings, which can be selected by using a switch on the central tunnel, being the result of the car's new traction control system. This traction control system appears to be more flexible and less invasive as it beautifully adapts more efficiently to the individual driving style of each driver. The car's aerodynamic efficiency has been increased by 25% because of the combination of a new rear diffuser, nolder and rear flaps, while the interaction between Client test drivers and the company's engineers is further boosted by new telemetry monitoring of the steering angle and brake pump pressure. Participation in a series of track events that Ferrari is organising at international circuits for 2008/2009, is included in the FXX evolution package.
