Jeep J8

The 2008 Jeep J8 was unveiled by Chrysler LLC at the 2007 Defense Systems & Equipment International military trade show, thus offering the legendary vehicle for reenlistment in active military service. The vehicle is going to be produced in a Chrysler LLC joint-venture facility in Cairo, Egypt, and will be available beginning in spring 2008. Thomas Hausch, Vice President of International Sales, Chrysler LLC, commented that Jeep vehicles had made their world premiere in 1941 for military duty, building a reputation more than 65 years old of impressive off-road capability and verstaility for civilian and military vehicles. He added that the new Jeep J8 was meant to mark the brand's return to vehicle production for military and civilian government use as well as supply of the defense community. The Jeep engineers built the basis on the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and they managed to boost its verstaility and capability, beginning with greater payloads of up to a maximum of 1,339 kg. The suspension, brakes and axle components were engineered particularly to attain more demanding military and civilian government use. A 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine poweres the Jeep J8, delivering an impressive output of 158 HP and 400 Nm of torque, paired to a five-speed automatic transmission.
