French carmaker Peugeot plans to introduce the 2008 Concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. We had the opportunity to see the first images of the study a few days ago, before its official debut. Before the end of this month, the carmaker will offer more information on the model and also will tell us for sure whether it will send it to production or not. Different rumors say the specialists plan to start the manufacturing process at the beginning of next year. Its most fearful rivals will be the Japanese Nissan Juke, the Chevrolet Trax and the Opel Mokka.
Specific to the French marque, the new 2008 Concept features different common elements like the smaller floating grille at the front, but also more defined profile lines. It measures 4.14 meters in length and 1.74 meters in width. Different spy shots indicate that the production version of the Peugeot 2008 Concept will be not a lot different from the study. Apparently, according to officials, the new concept is powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine and to be more precise, by a 1.2-liter turbocharged unit which uses direct-injection technology. The output reaches 110 BHP. The CO2 emission level is low and so is the fuel consumption. Peugeot declared that the 2008 Concept was manufactured and designed in Europe, China and Latin America, in Peugeot centers, of course.
The production version will be manufactured in France and China, and later in Brazil. The carmaker scheduled the official sales debut sometime next year. Unfortunately, there are no more detail available till this point, but closer to its debut, maybe the carmaker will be more generous and offer us something to work with.
