Subaru Impreza WRX STi Hatchback

The 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Hatchback had its world premiere at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. It was built exclusively as an aggressively styled wide-fender five-door model, boasting a design influenced by the brand`s competition heritage. Its 305 HP Boxer engine offers a high level of dynamic handling control and performance. Thus, the 2.5-liter intercooled turbocharged engine produces 305 HP at 6,000 rpm, 290 lb.-ft. of peak torque, achieving the very severe Bin 5 Tier 2-Federal and LEV2-California Tier 2/Bin 5 emissions certification. In addition to the six manual differential-locking settings, the Driver Control Center Differential offers three selectable automatic performance modes and, as a premiere, it comprises the Vehicle Dynamics Control stability and traction control system. As compared to the 2007 WRX STI sedan, the 2008 WRX STI weighs only 22 lbs. more, despite the increased space, as well as the special chassis reinforcements. This model has been made a performance superstar due to the agile responses given by the stiffer platform and the special STI tuning. Furthermore, the new WRX STI directly associates Subaru with competition cars thanks to its aerodynamic ground effects, the bulged fenders and rear quarter panels. For the first time, the WRX STI is available with an optional navigation system, which integrates a vehicle information center, while the driver enjoys the display of a variety of information by the Radio Broadcast Data, including a song`s title and artist.
