The new Acura TL performance luxury sedan is available for 2009 in two distinctly different models, TL and TL SH-AWD. The model offers more appeal than ever before thanks to the larger dimensions, optimized suspension, thanks to a new Sequential SportShift transmission, and to a Technology Package. Under the hood, the new model hides a 3.5-liter V6 engine offered as standard capable of generating 280 horsepower and 254 lb. ft. of torque. The TL SH-AWD receives power from a 3.7-liter V6 engine capable of producing 305 horsepower and 273 lb. ft. of torque. The standard transmission on the 2009 Acura TL and TL SH-AWD is a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic that features steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters and Grade Logic Control. The Acura transmission has the widest gear-ratio spread of any 5-speed transmission in its class, providing strong acceleration in lower gears and relaxed, fuel-efficient highway cruising. The ride quality and passenger comfort benefit from the larger exterior dimensions of the 2009 TL. The larger body size directly contributes to greater interior roominess. The TL uses an array of styling techniques to express motion and also emotion even when the car is at rest. Wheels and tires are as expressive as the exterior styling. The TL 2009 features as standard 17-inch aluminum wheels covered in P245 / 50 R17 all-seasons Bridgestone Turanza or available Michelin Pilot tires for confident year-round performance, the new TL includes sophisticated active safety features including powerful 4-wheel disk brakes, Vehicle Stability Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and so on. The 2009 Aucra TL is designed to meet the latest crash-safety regulations, including the new FMVSS214 side crash standards and the new FMVSS301 rear crash standards. The model is assembled in Ohio and is covered by a comprehensive 4-year / 50.000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. More info is available on the official Acura website.
