Mercedes GLK Tuner

German carmaker will receive a tuning package for its compact GLK-Class and this is how a competition for tuning companies was started. The four most convincing concepts were selected and the winners were given the opportunity to implement their proposals. The results are now presented at the SEMA Show. The new models are the Widestar, the GLK Urban Whip, the GLK Pikes Peak Rally Racer and last, but not least, the GLK Rock Crawler. This presentation also represents the GLK premiere in the US market, where sales are scheduled to begin in January 2009. The visual appeal and functionality of its exterior design make the GLK a distinctive and versatile vehicle, as do its exceptional handling and excellent safety characteristics combined with great comfort on and off-road. The GLK-Class is one of the most multi-faceted SUV model ever and one that retains its distinctive character, even in the face of somewhat unconventional modifications. The SUV has been turned into an exclusive specialist for the road, beach, and city or rally stage. The tuners opted for completely differing approaches to prove the potential of the GLK concept. The drive train of the GLK Pikes Peak Rally Racer is completed by a hybrid module that offers excellent acceleration figures. The Widestar is a high-performance on-road vehicle that also pays tribute to the distinctive refinement of vehicles developed by Mercedes-Benz. GLK Urban Whip makes its entrance with a wider body shell, massive 26-inch wheels and a big on-board entertainment system. The GLK Rock Crowler has an exotic design both for sand and snow. The American trade body SEMA has been hosting the tuning show of the same name for over 40 years now. The Show will take place as always in the Las Vegas Convention Center and will begin on the 4th of November.
