The Octavia GreenLine completes the Skoda range of consumption and CO2 optimised cars.
Skoda Auto is clearly committed to fuel economy: Downsizing and common rail technology form the basis for an efficient reduction of fuel consumption. With the Fabia GreenLine and Superb GreenLine models, Škoda has already laid the foundation for effective, and above all, affordable concepts for more economical and environmentally friendly mobility.
With its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, the Octavia GreenLine completes the Skoda range of consumption-optimised automobiles and provides a highly efficient alternative to the familiar standard vehicles. The package of measures has been carefully adjusted, as have all the details of the consumption-reducing components themselves. This leads to outstanding fuel economy and lower emissions.
The centrepiece of the consumption-optimised model is a completely new engine, the fuel economy of which has now reached Škoda`s target following meticulous development work. The result is a 1.6 litre TDI with only 116 g/km of CO2 in the combined driving cycle; this is a combined consumption of 4.4 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres. Thanks to common rail injection, the four-cylinder power unit runs particularly smoothly and has high pulling power. With an output of 77 kW (105 PS) and a maximum torque of 250 Nm at 1900 rpm, the Octavia GreenLine provides performance more than adequate for its class. A standard diesel particulate filter complements the environmentally-friendly specification of the third eco car in the Škoda Auto range, following the Fabia GreenLine and Superb GreenLine.
Changes to the vehicle`s specification reduce the weight of the Octavia GreenLine, hence less mass has to be moved. Moreover, aerodynamic improvements on the underbody provide improved flow characteristics. The reduced rolling resistance tyres reduce the power needed when accelerating and driving at higher speeds and tyre pressure has increased by about 15 per cent.
But the driver of an Octavia GreenLine does not have to accept any compromises with the everyday suitability of his car. The Octavia`s renowned practicality remains fully available; only the consumption has been reduced by 4.5 per cent compared with the standard model.
