Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder (based on Audi V8)

Spyker Cars introduced the first prototype of the Spyder version of its all-new second generation sports car, the Spyker C8 Aileron. The carmaker announced the development of a convertible C8 Aileron Spyder in March at the Geneva Auto Show, during the introduction of the production version of the Spyker C8 Aileron. It is scheduled to go into production in the first half of 2010. Once folded, the soft-top is totally enclosed within the body of the car. The roof retracts under an aluminum tonneau, with two buttresses upholstered in quilted Hulshof leather. The soft top has a glass rear window and is available in eight colors. The model features a luggage rack mounted immediately behind the roll hoops, on which a wing-shaped aluminum case is strapped. The Spyker C8 Aileron is an advanced mid-engine, two-seat sports car, featuring a longer wheelbase than the existing sports car Spiker developed. The model is hand-crafted, using only the finest bespoke materials to create a special and exclusive automotive statement. Under the hood it hides an all-aluminum V8 engine capable of developing 400 BHP and 354 lb. ft. of torque. All the output is being transferred to the wheels through a manual 6-speed transmission, driving the rear wheels through a limited slip differential. The power it produces enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and to reach a top speed of 300 km/h. As options, the carmaker provides a turned aluminum dashboard fascia, elegant 19-inch directional rotor wheels, quilted leather detailing for the cockpit and Chronoswiss dashboard instruments. The ones interested can also order a 5-piece Louis Vuitton luggage set exclusively made for Spyker. The Spyker C8 Aileron is fitted with a brand new front and rear independent double-wishbone suspension system developed by Lotus.
