Subaru Impreza WRX and 2.5GT

Subaru developed the all-wheel drive Impreza WRX sport compact for 2009. Its turbocharged intercooled Boxer engine is capable of developing 265 horsepower. The model features retuned suspension and wider, low-profile summer performance tires. The model will be recognized thanks to the ST-type grille and standard Aero Package. The model comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. The carmaker is also introducing the new Impreza 2.5GT model for 2009, a car powered by a 224 horsepower turbocharged intercooled engine teamed to a standard 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with SPORTSHIFT. Anyway, both models are available as 4-door and 5-door models and are equipped with Symmetrical all-wheel drive. The carmaker actually tried the make its models stronger and to obtain this, the specialists revamped the performance character of the WRX for 2009. In the end, the results were satisfactory. The Impreza WRX had its debut as an all-new platform for the 2008 model year featuring an all-new double-wishbone rear suspension system. The Vehicle Dynamics Control stability and traction control system, which is standard on all Impreza models for 2009, helps to enhance the road handling safety of the WRX. Symmetrical all-wheel drive is a complete system that contains the Boxer engine and the full-time power distribution system. The aluminum Boxer engine and simple, symmetrical drive train layout help to lower the center of gravity of the car, which in turn contributes to its handling characteristics. The Impreza 2.5GT models are equipped with automatic transmission and use a different version of the symmetrical all-wheel drive system. The new generation Impreza models are built upon the proven Subaru Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame body structure with front and rear crumple zones. All Impreza models for 2009 feature a 4-wheel disc Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and brake Assist. All seats provide 3-point seatbelts and the front seatbelts have electronically triggered pre-tensioners and force limiters.
