VW Golf Plus

The 2nd generation VW Golf Plus was revealed today at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy. The model received a lot of new styling elements that create a connection to the body style of the 6th generation Golf hatch and offers a distinctive and dynamic appearance. At the front it has the radiator grille with two high-gloss black cross-bars and an integrated VW roundel, between revised headlights. In terms of exterior, the new Golf Plus has a lower profile in comparison with the previous generation and with newly designed integrated roof rails. At the back we can observe a fully color-coded redesigned bumper and revised rear lights incorporating LED technology. The exterior styling modifications are complemented by a range of new wheel and tire options, including 18-inch alloy wheels from Volkswagen Individual. The inside of the new model reaches a new level of quality while continuing to be one of the most practical and versatile vehicles in its class. Engines are still to be confirmed, but a range of advanced petrol and diesels add further refinement to the revised model, with improved levels of fuel economy and reduced emissions. The engines will be mated to either a 5- or 6-speed manual or a 6- or 7-speed DSG transmission. One of the engines available is a 1.4-liter TSI unit capable of generating 122 PS. This enables the car to accelerate and reach a top speed of 124 mph. Next on the list we have a 2.0-liter TDI with 140 PS as output capable of developing 127 mph. So that you know, the Golf Plus will be available with ParkAssist, a system that has the ability to operate the steering automatically during reverse parallel parking maneuvers. Prices, engines and specifications for the new VW Golf Plus will be announced later, maybe in the spring of 2009.
