Automotive electronics expert Superchips Ltd. launched an ECU remap for a range of Mercedes models using the 231 BHP 350 CDi BlueEFFICIENCY engine. The engineers have created a new ECU map fir the Bosch EDC17 ECU developed by Mercedes, that removes some of the inherent performance constraints and fine tuning fuelling and turbo boost parameters. Many road and chassis dyno testing were made to validate the changes. After the modification process was over, the remap of the Superchip ECU remap offered a healthy increase of 34 BHP, in the end being capable of reaching 284 BHP in comparison with the standard output of 250 BHP. The maximum torque increased from 587 Nm to 642 Nm, realizing a maximum gain of 80 Nm. In the end, the specialists have managed to offer a sharper, more exciting, more responsive driving experience with additional reserves of urge on tap for overtaking or towing. The power plant of the 350 CDi feels smoother and is just as frugal. The drivers will notice the improvements in terms of fuel economy due to the additional low rev torque delivered by the Superchips upgrade. The remapping procedure is done in around 80 Superchips performance centers which have very well trained technicians. The Superchips conversion is covered by a full Customer Service Guarantee and an industry-leading 12 month / 30.000 mile supplementary vehicle warranty. The ECU remap is available now both directly from Superchips and its UK dealer network and the starting price was established at GBP445 including installation and taxes.
