Inspired by the 1967 Porsche Targa, Alois Ruf and his team built a Ruf Roadster, managing to successfully combine the safety of a coupe with the fresh air feeling provided by a convertible. The driver enjoys the possibility of removing and folding the centre piece of the roof, as well as the flexible plastic rear window.
The removable pieces are made of carbon fiber, reducing the weight and thus offering a driving pleasure with either completely closed or completely open, something that nobody would like to miss.
When it comes to speak about the engine, one should know that it is powered by 400 hp, has 6 cylinder with a six speed gear box as standard.
Customers are also offered an optional dual clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive.
Being equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, it arrives on the market with a starting price of Euro 195,000, without including taxes.
Alois Ruf and his team were inspired to build the RUF Roadster from a 1967 Porsche Targa. This 911 was equipped with an integrated roll cage which combines the safety of a Coupe with the fresh air feeling of a convertible. The centre piece of the roof could be removed and folded; the flexible plastic rear window can be folded also.
For your convenience, the new RUF Roadster has an aerodynamically optimized, lower rear window and two extremely light, removable roof pieces made of Carbon fibre. The "soft" rear window is made of a three layer polyglass, an electric engine keeps the rear window tight.
There are different ways to enjoy this driving pleasure: completely enclosed, completely open, or with a closed roof and open rear window, or open roof and closed rear window.
The Roadster is available with a 294 kW (400 hp) six cylinder boxer engine and/or as a turbo with 412 kW (560 hp). Standard is a six speed gear box. Dual clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive are available as an option. This RUF car is equipped with 19 inch forged aluminium wheels.
The base price for the Roadster with combustion engine starts at Euro 195,000 without tax.
The Roadster chassis will be available from 2011 onward with a planned limited production of electric eRUF automobiles.
