Saleen S281

Saleen Performance Vehicles unveiled the 2010 Saleen S280, the first in its 2010 premier line of high-performance cars. The debut took place at the annual SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The 2010 435S will follow. The S280 builds on the Saleen tradition of offering limited-edition, high-performance vehicles for enthusiasts who are looking for an exciting driving experience, with refined driving for real-world road conditions. The exterior design features carefully crafted sculptural detailing, with lines and forms that flow naturally and suggest suppleness, power and agility. Under the hood it hides a Saleen Series 6.5-liter twin-screw supercharger and dual-stage intercooler capable of developing 485 horsepower and 460 lb. ft. of torque. All the output is being sent to the wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The Racecraft suspension system developed by the carmaker is new and includes specially tuned, single-rate front and rear springs and a specially tuned sway bar with performance pivot bushings. On the inside it has new leather sport seats that contain Ultra-Suede inserts and unique treatments of the gauges, steering wheel, center console and shifter. This is not all. In the door panels there are contrasting Saleen logos and the ones in the door sill plates illuminate when the door is opened. All the power is being transferred to the road through unique 20-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels covered in Pirelli P-Zero Rosso high-performance tires and the carmaker also offers Saleen S281 Supercharged fender badges. The goal of the carmaker was to create the most visually enticing American sports car ever. It was not supposed to be too hard as Ford provided the perfect launching pad with the 2010 Mustang.
