Audi A3 e-Tron Concept

The 2011 Audi A3 e-tron Concept is an attractive technical study which is going to be unveiled in Shanghai. The plug-in hybrid delivers a high level of fuel efficiency due to its two powerplants and lithium-ion batteries that store enough energy to propel the car on electric power alone for up to 34 miles. A classic notchback sedan, the Audi A3 e-tron concept boasts a large luggage compartment with a volume of 410 liters (14.48 cubic ft) and a low loading lip. The dimensions of this four-seat notchback sedan are 4.44 of length, 1.84 meters of width and just 1.39 meters of height, essentially contributing to the dynamic character of the car. The typical Audi sporty elegance is proved by the design which shows a single-frame grille comprised into the front end, three-dimensional aluminum louvers and the headlights which merge with the beveled upper corners of the single-frame. The headlights become broader as they extend outward, while the line underneath them gives the impression that they float on air. The spoiler integrates a splitter that provides an increased downforce on the front wheels. The greenhouse is characteristic of Audi design and it accounts for one-third of the height, while the remaining two-thirds are made up by the sheet metal. The powerfully flared fenders make the power of the engine an obvious one with the flank accentuated by two prominently elaborated lines. The exterior mirrors are made of aluminum and CFRP, while the door handles feature brushed-aluminum clasps and they power-extend whenever the driver touches them. The tailgate bears an elegant spoiler edge, the broad tail lights culminate in a point on the inside and the rear apron comprises a diffuser insert of CFRP and metal. The body weight of 1,720 kg is kept low by the ultra-modern components, design methods and joining techniques. The interior is stylish, featuring a high-quality sound system in the doors, a large trim strip defined in three dimensions and a cockpit that gives the impression of lightness and airiness.
