BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition

The BMW 5 Series engines lead the way on sporty power delivery and efficiency in the petrol segment. It is a world-exclusive technology that adds twin-scroll turbocharging, High Precision Injection direct injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-Vanos variable camshaft timing to the two 2.0-liter engines. This system adopted by BMW supposes the delivery of the exhaust gases from each pair of cylinders to the turbine via two separate channels, both in the exhaust manifold and in the turbocharger itself, providing more responsive performance. The four-cylinder fitted in the new BMW 520i delivers an impressive output of 135 kW/184 HP at 5,000 rpm together with a peak torque of 270 Nm between 1,250 and 4,500 rpm. For the new BMW 528i, the modified turbocharging and injection technology allow the four-cylinder engine to develop a maximum power of 180 kW/245 HP at 5,000 through 6,500 rpm as well as a peak torque of 350 NM between 1,250 and 4,800 rpm. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in 6.2 seconds for the new BMW 528i sedan and 6.4 seconds are necessary for the BMW 528i Touring. The BMW EfficientDynamics Edition is a premium sedan featuring CO2 emissions of 119 g/km, being unique in the upper mid-range segment. With unchanged maximum power (135 kW/184 hp) and torque (380 Newton metres / 280 lb-ft), this model records average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 4.5 l/100 km (62.8 mpg imp). It reaches a maximum speed of 231 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.2 seconds. The car model provides a typical sporty BMW performance with its extra-efficient 2.0-liter disel engine, which comes equipped with a centrifugal pendulum absorber, thus reducing irregular running at low engine speeds for greater refinement.
