Ford Fiesta ST Concept

The 2011 Ford Fiesta ST Concept is going to be unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, in Germany, hinting to the future direction of a high-performance Fiesta, also signaling the next step in Ford Motor Company's global performance vehicle strategy. Its spirited performance combined with low emissions, dynamic sports chassis, eye-catching styling and fuel efficiency, are delivered by the specially tuned 180PS 1.6-liter Ford EcoBoost engine, proving that responsible and attractive fuel economy need not come at the expense of performance, while driver-oriented features are given by the bold and dynamic exterior styling inspired by the Fiesta RS WRC. Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, stated that the Fiesta had a rich history of high-performance models and a new ST performance model was a logical next step in their performance vehicle strategy for their global small cars, continuing the tradition by revealing how a global performance version of their best-selling B-car could be both technically advanced and dramatically styled. Due to the fact that the Fiesta RS World Rally Car and Fiesta Rallycross cars demonstrated the potential of Ford's global small car in the toughest international motorsport events, it was the best moment for Ford to provide enthusiasts with a view of what a road-going Fiesta technically implied. Greater fuel economy through technical advancement are delivered by the 1.6-liter turbocharged unit in the Fiesta ST Concept and Ford's EcoBoost downsizing strategy. As with all engines in the EcoBoost family, the Fiesta ST Concept's advanced engine combines turbocharging and direct injection to deliver the powerful performance of a larger capacity traditional petrol engine. The sporting credentials of the Fiesta ST Concept are enhanced by the rear featuring a dramatic diffuser design, the widened wheel arches filled with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the exterior paint in Europe Molten Orange reinforces the racing spirit of the Fiesta ST Concept. This theme is continued inside the high-contrast sports interior which includes Recaro sports seats for the driver and front passenger.
