The 2011 KIA Rio 5-Door B-Spec Racer was engineered to strongly compete against well-known models, such as Honda Fit, Mazda2 and Ford Fiesta. Being the fastest growing car company in the U.S., Kia Motors America offers its customers a growing sports marketing portfolio that features women's golf, basketball, motorsports and others. Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, KMA, stated that Kia was experiencing an unprecedented growth as they were bringing their most exciting range of show cars to the 2011 SEMA show, adding that their involvement in the world of sports had dramatically increased awareness and perception of the Kia brand by creating a lineup of fun and outstaning vehicles integrating unique accessories together with plenty of personality. The kit of the Rio 5-door LX, a B-Spec, is priced at approximately $14,000 and the enthusiast customers will be able to purchase it from Kia's racing partner, Kinetic Motorsports. The Rio 5-door is easily transformed from street car to race car thanks to the kit which supplies everyhtnig that it takes to perform this action. It incorporates complete build instructions, racing seats, a roll cage kit, quick-release steering wheel and racing harness.

Kia Motors America (KMA) is the fastest growing car company in the U.S., and with a growing sports marketing portfolio that includes basketball, women's golf, motorsports and more, Kia arrives in fabulous Las Vegas for the 2011 SEMA Show with a roster of six outrageous sports-themed vehicles, including two cars built by the world famous West Coast Customs (WCC). Additional vehicles were conceived and built in-partnership with the popular lifestyle magazine, Antenna, as well as GoGoGear.com and Kia's racing partner, Kinetic Motorsports. Kia's press conference will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 9:30 a.m. at the Kia booth located in North Hall (#10805). Visitors to the Kia display also will be able to revisit the classic video games of the 1980s on five iCade gaming stations utilizing iPads? and enjoy tunes being spun throughout the show by DJ Danny.

Fresh off Kia's first ever GRAND-AM Team and Driver road racing championships in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge's Street Tuner class, the first expansion to Kia's U.S. motorsports program will be entry into showroom stock ("B-Spec") racing with the all-new 2012 Rio 5-door subcompact. Kia Rio 5-door B-Spec racecar will compete against models like the Mazda2, Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta and others in a range of events organized by various motorsports sanctioning bodies, including World Challenge, GRAND-AM, Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and National Auto Sport Association (NASA). B-Spec racing is a relatively affordable way for any auto enthusiast to get into competitive motorsports with a vehicle like the all-new 2012 Rio 5-door that offers class-leading horsepower4 and fuel economy5, a new six-speed manual transmission and outstanding driving dynamics.


Once potential racers purchase their 2012 Rio 5-door LX, a B-Spec kit that costs approximately $14,000 is available for purchase from Kia's racing partner, Kinetic Motorsports. The kit supplies everything needed to transform the Rio 5-door from street car to racecar. Parts included in the package are a roll cage kit, racing seat, quick-release steering wheel, racing harness, shocks, lightweight wheels, spec-series tires and oil sump pan expansion kit along with complete build instructions. If preferred, the racer can have the team at Kinetic Motorsports assemble the Rio at their shop in Buford, Georgia for an additional cost.
