The 2011 Subaru BRZ Prologue boxer has recently been presented at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show and it incorporates an all-new rear-wheel drive, ensuring a lowered centre of gravity and providing maximum performance potential required of the RWD sports car. The new 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer engine was exclusively designed for the new sports car, while the "D-4S", Toyota's direct injection and port injection technology, ensures a higher output and lower CO2 emissions, thus achieving sporty properties that perfectly match the new-generation sports car. Its production is planned to start in the spring of 2012.

FHI Introduces "SUBARU BRZ PROLOGUE"
Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, unveiled the "SUBARU BRZ PROLOGUE - BOXER Sports Car Architecture II -" at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show. (Press day: September 13 and 14; Open to the public from September 15 through 25, 2011)
SUBARU BRZ PROLOGUE embodies the technology concept of the "SUBARU BRZ", an all-new rear-wheel drive (RWD) sports car, currently under joint development with Toyota Motor Corporation. Built around Subaru's core technology - the Horizontally-Opposed Boxer engine, a new platform was developed in order to extract the maximum performance potential required of the RWD sports car.
The architecture employs the totally new 2.0-litre Subaru Boxer engine exclusively designed for the new sports car. In addition to renewing the bore and stroke, by adopting Toyota's direct injection and port injection technology - "D-4S", it creates higher output and better environmental friendliness to achieve sporty properties best-suited for the new generation sports car.
SUBARU BRZ is currently under development with an ambition of Subaru and Toyota to provide driving pleasure to a wider range of customers by making full uses of both companies' expertise, and its start of production is expected in spring 2012. Thanks to its front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout; further lowered centre of gravity; and compact and lightweight body, SUBARU BRZ delivers new ways to enjoy "Pure Handling Delight" driving experience.
