The 2011 Shanghai Auto Show hosted the presentation of the 2011 Volvo Concept Universe, which boasts to be a luxurious and large sedan, featuring a new human-centric design language, thus avoiding the compromise of the beautiful lines which strongly define the classic Volvo models. A truly global company, Volvo Car Corporaion aims to have a long-term success by offering products designed around the customers' lifestyles and needs. By designing this Concept Universe, the engineers aimed to spark a subconscious desire together with a feeling of eternal beauty. Peter Horbury, Vice President Design at Volvo Car Corporation stated that the design was handcrafted and durable so that it could undoubtedly stand the test of time.
He added that it was unmatched in performance and technology, without superficiality or complication. Its interior is driver-oriented in the front, while the rear offers comfort and relaxation. Intuitive controls were added to the driver environment with a touchscreen that approaches the hand when the driver reaches towards it. Classic forms, materials and textures refine the Concept Universe, managing to create a special contemporray luxury experience. This ingenious blend of design is extremely appreciated, allowing it to pave its way to success. Peter Horbury also announced the fact that they were convinced of the great future of that luxury brand.
