Back in 2009, Acura has launched the ZDX, mid-size luxury crossover. Back then, their goal was to rival the Bavarian BMW X6. The results were not so good, of course. The Acura ZDX only managed to sell 1.564 units in 2011 and 416 units in the first half of this year. Apparently the carmaker will offer a 2013 model which will receive different styling and technology enhancements. The new 2013 Acura ZDX model year will receive dark wheel accents, front and rear parking sensors, a redesigned grille, safety features like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning systems, power folding side mirrors.
In terms of equipment, the engineers will provide an 8-inch screen with a voice-recognition capable navigation system, a 435-watt, 10-speaker audio system sporting a 15 GB hard-disk drive, Bluetooth connectivity. The list continues with keyless entry and engine start, heated and ventilated front seats that have Milano leather upholstery. We have to admit that all these extra features make it a bit more attractive, so the ones shopping for a luxury crossover car will find it as a better product. This is what Jeff Conrad, vice president and general manager of Acura division of Honda declared. Of course, there is the possibility the carmaker will not sell as many models as expected, at least not at first. The customers that bought the 416 units of the previous model last year might not be ready to trade it so soon. The automaker plans to offer the new 2013 Acura ZDX for purchase starting the 19th of this month.
The starting price was established at $50.920 and the destination charge will be another $895. There is no way of knowing the reaction of the public now, but maybe the new Acura will be received better than the previous model.
