Ariel Atom race series

Ariel Motor Company joined forces with Atomic Race Management with a very easy purpose: to create an eight-race Ariel Atom race series for next year in the UK. To be more precise, the race series follows the success of the Spec Race Atom series in the US by using Cup Spec Atoms only. Under the hood, the Cup Spec Atoms hide a 2.0-liter Type R engine capable of developing 245 BHP. With no extra equipment, the Ariel Atom weight approximately 525 kg. The output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and to reach a top speed of 145 mph. As a result we can say with confidence that the race-spec cars will be a little quicker because of a lower kerb weight.

The carmaker estimates a 500 kg car with stickier cup tires. The specialists also offer three race packages, Bronze, Silver and Gold with prices starting at GBP63.835, GBP71.985 and GBP83.580. Now, the Bronze package includes the race car and the Silver one adds tires, track assistance and fuel. The last one, the Gold package features maintenance, storage and transport. This is not all. The race cars also receive full roll-over protection, Ohlins suspension set-up and race instrumentation. The carmaker also offers some optional extras like stainless exhaust manifold, a carbon fiber instrument panel, a data logging system and FIA-approved passenger seatbelt. These are all the information available so far on the Ariel Atom race series, but stay tuned for more.
