Apparently, Audi is on fire; not literally, of course. We had the opportunity to see the new generation A3 Sportback earlier this week, online and now we found out that at the 2012 Paris motor Show the carmaker will also present the new Audi S3, which is actually more powerful than the model it replaces. The carmaker plans to offer it for sale on the European market at the beginning of next year and it will have a starting price of EUR38.900 for the German customers. Under the hood it hides a 2.0-liter TFSI direct-injection and turbocharged gasoline engine. It is capable of developing 296 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, up with 35 horsepower and 30 Nm of torque respectively. To send the power to all four wheels, the carmaker used a 6-speed manual transmission offered as standard.
The ones interested in something else should know the specialists offer as an option an S tronic dual clutch transmission and the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive. All the output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds equipped with the S tronic and 5.4 seconds with the stick shift. The model will be capable of reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption, the new Audi S3 S Tronic uses 6.9-liters of fuel for 100 km and it emits 159 g/km CO2.
To improve handling, the new model has a sport suspension that lowers the body by 25 mm. The model is different from its siblings by a styling package that includes an S-specific single frame grille with an aluminum-look finish, a new front bumper, aluminum-look mirror caps, side skirts, LED daytime running lights offered as standard, but also an upgraded rear bumper that hides a diffuser and quad tailpipes. To transfer the power to the road, the engineers have offered 18-inch wheels covered in 225 / 40 r18 tires. For the interior Audi provided sport seats available as optional, with diamond quilting. As standard, the new S3 features gray instrument dials, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel and decorative inlays in matt aluminum or a black 3D look. These are all the information available so far on the model.
