German carmaker Audi revealed a high-performance version of the Q5 crossover, the SQ5 TDI. Everything happened during the Le Mans 24 Hour race, last weekend. Fans expect to be sent available for sale at the beginning of next year. Under the hood it hides a very well known 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine capable of developing 313 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. This efficient unit enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds and to reach a top speed of 155 mph.
The new Audi SQ5 comes with a 32.67 US mpg / 39.2 UK mpg / 7/2-liters / 100 km fuel economy. Unfortunately the CO2 emission level was not revealed yet. This model is actually the first S model to be powered by a diesel engine. The new Audi SQ5 TDI features a lot of fuel saving technologies just like a start-stop system, a regulated oil pump and thermal management. Like expected the SQ5 is equipped with Quattro permanent all-wheel drive with torque vectoring and sends the power to the wheels through an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox. The suspension was lowered by 30 mm and the output is being sent to the road through 20-inch alloy wheels.
Other modifications refer to the black brake calipers and a rear roof spoiler. The carmaker offers as options Estoril Blue and Panther Black finishes for the Audi SQ5. The interior comes with power-adjustable sport seats covered in Alcantara or Pearl Nappa leather, unique instrument dials and carbon accents. It seems that the carmaker said their new model is capable of 1.560 liter of luggage capacity and a 2.4 metric tons towing capacity. The starting price for the Audi SQ5 was established at GBP45.000 for the British customers and EUR58.500 for the rest of the European customers. The new SQ5 will go on sale later this year, in October.
