BMW Active Tourer Concept

Not many hours ago ago, an image was released revealing the new BMW Active Tourer Concept. Back then everyone was a little skeptic, but now with the new images offered, all doubt is gone. It was really the Tourer. Bavarian carmaker has decided to send the model to production. Just for information, one of its most dangerous rivals is the Mercedes-Benz B-Class small MPV. One important thing to know is that the BMW Active Tourer Concept will share the platform with the next generation Mini cars.

The carmaker had decided to try something new for a change and start with front-wheel drive models. Both the concept and the production version will have as base the BMW UKL1 platform which will be available in two lengths. The new hatchback measures 4.350 mm in length, 1.834 mm in width and 1.560 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2.670 mm. just for comparison, its rival, mentioned above measures 4.359 mm in length, 1.786 mm in width and 1.557 mm in height. The design of the new BMW Active Tourer Concept is very similar to the 1-Series, 3-Series and 5-Series models.

On the outside, it is hard to see any change, but on the inside, the 5-seat model will be a bit different. Its highlights are the panoramic glass roof, the luggage compartment and a lot more. It receives power from a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels and it will produce 188 horsepower. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than eight seconds and to reach a top speed of 200 km/h. The fuel consumption reaches 2.5-liters / 100 km and the CO2 emission level equals 60 g/km. The next thing we can see is a production version of the 1-Series GT offered with hybrid and plug-in hybrid power trains.
