BMW i8 Spyder Concept

German carmaker revealed a new concept, the i8 Spyder Concept this last weekend and we really think is the real thing and not just a joke for the 1st of April. The model will have its first official public display at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show that will take place in China at the end of this month. The model will feature sold doors and not glass ones like the i8 coupe concept from last year. The differences do not stop here. It also has a shorter wheelbase, a more production intent interior and no rear seats. Under the hood it features a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine at the back and an electric motor at the front that form a plug-in hybrid power-train. The total amount of power produced is 349 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from o to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and to reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The model will able to work on electricity alone only for 17-19 miles.
