BMW Z4 Zagato Roadster

Bavarian carmaker BMW revealed for the first time its new achievement at the Pebble Beach. To be more precise, we are talking about the roadster version of the amazing Z4-based Zagato Coupe. The development process only took six weeks. This version adopts a lower rear end and an extra line between the sill and the rear apron of the car. The new BMW Zagato Roadster has a soft top and features a pair of roll bars for additional protection, while the attractive grey paint finish will change its hue to light silver.

The interior is not a lot different from the Coupe version. The exception is the brown leather that replaces the previous all-black look. This is used to cover the door sills, the behind of the seats, the top of the dashboard and also the roll-over bars. The idea of a new collaboration between the German BMW and Italian coachbuilder Zagato came after the introduction of the BMW Zagato Coupe. Norihiko Harada, Zagato chief designer said that this new BMW Zagato Roadster was not designed only as an elegant convertible, but also as a masculine end extremely dynamic sports car which evokes a powerful driving experience. The front end of the model is very three-dimensional, wide and powerfully formed.

The contoured hood extends this aura of dynamism with its sweeping lines and taut surfaces, while a pair of air intakes carved into the hood supply the engine compartment with extra air and hint at the brawny power plant inside. Its silhouette outlines a poised and alert presence, its long wheelbase, short overhangs and low rear end merge into a taut, sporty whole. A fine additional line forges a visual connection between the sill and the rear apron to round off the rear end design in style. A very special highlight of the model is its paintwork. The exterior paint finish, a grey with impressive power, appears to wrap the body of the car in liquid metal. The colors and materials making the transition from interior to exterior exude a special uniqueness.
