The production version of the 2012 Regal GS will soon be unveiled by Buick at a consumer event in Miami and appears as a sportier expression of the Regal sport sedan which managed to attract new buyers to the Buick family.
With a standard Interactive Drive Control, the drivers are allowed to customize the driving experience by changing the steering sensitivity and the suspension settings in three modes: GS, sport and standard. It is powered by an exclusive Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged and intercooled engine with direct injection technology, which raises an outptut of 400 Nm and 255HP, connected to a six-speed manual transmission, while a future option will integrate a six-speed automatic, featuring Driver Shift Control.
Increased efficiency is ensured by the direct injection technology which allows the delivery of more power, without compromising fuel economy or CO2 emissions.
Concerning the exterior design of the car model, the rear fascia is enhanced by a pair of integrated, satin-metallic trapezoidal exhaust outlets and the front fascia comprises prominent, vertical air intake slots. The sporting appearance of the GS is emphasized by a slightly lower ride height, together with 19-inch, 5-Twin Spoke alloy wheels.
The interior seems to be racing-inspired with leather-appointed 12-way power-adjustable sport driver and front passenger heated seats, metal sport pedals and, finally, a flat-bottom sport steering wheel.
The four-wheel independent suspension which incorporates a unique High Performance Strut front suspension design, gives the vehicle a well-balanced dynamics.
The 2012 Buick Regal GS is planned to go on sale in the second half of 2011.
