American carmaker Ford is trying to develop a new strategy in terms of plug-in hybrids. Now, the specialists revealed more information on their new C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid. When revealed, the engineers said that this new achievement is way better than the Toyota Prius V. This means that the electric range is 20 miles more and the complete range is 550 miles. The Ford C-MAX Energy Plug-In Hybrid is expected to get 95 MPG fuel economy on combined city / highway cycle and it will be available starting this fall.
The starting price will be $25.995 and this includes delivery and destination fees. Actually, the C-MAX Energy is part of first line of hybrid vehicles in the US and it will soon be available for order in dealerships. The owners must plug in the vehicle using its charge port and C-MAX Energy has a larger battery pack, operating like a traditional hybrid. The electric vehicles developed by the American carmaker offer a great combination of efficiency, performance and technology, but let us not forget affordability. Since 2010, more than 144.000 units of the five-passenger Ford C-MAX gasoline and diesel versions have been sold in Europe.
The Ford C-MAX Energy is capable of developing 188 horsepower with its all-new 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine. This is actually one of the most powerful and fuel efficient non-turbocharged 4-cylinder power-train Ford has ever developed. The model is capable of achieving increased electric mode and total range because the owners plug it in to charge the lithium-ion battery. The C-MAX Energi will be produced at the Michigan Assembly Plant together with the C-MAX Hybrid, Focus, Focus Electric and Focus ST. ford offers financial services through Ford Motor Credit Company.
