Ford Fiesta ST Concept

The 2012 Ford Fiesta ST Concept is planned to make its international debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show as a new five-door concept that previews the direction for a high-performance Fiesta. Fiesta RS WRC inspired the dynamic features of the exterior, which are likely to influence, in turn, the driver-oriented interior. The new car model provides a smart blend of sporty and muscular styling with a high-performance powertrain and a sports chassis that deliver great levels of fuel economy, considerably reducing the CO2 emissions. The concept appears as distinctive and bold, embodying the history of Fiesta, but adding innovative technology together with futuristic looks. Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, stated that the Fiesta had a rich history of high performance models and the new model was a logical step in their performance vehicle strategy for their global small cars. Kuzak added that the racing silhouette together with the unique look, made the new Fiesta ST Concept an exciting demonstration of the road-going Fiesta's potential. High-level performance is delivered by the 1.6-liter Ford EcoBoost gasoline engine, also offering greater fuel economy through technological advancement. This advanced engine combines direct injection and turbocharging to handle the impressive performance of a traditional gasoline engine. Its twin independent variable camshaft timing was specially developed to ensure torque and power which should be worthy of the ST badge. Thus, 180 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque are achieved by the 1.6-liter Ford EcoBoost engine. Jost Capito, Ford director of Global Performance Vehicles, informed the enthusiasts that the Focus ST was engineered to develop uncompromised sports performance and styling to a truly global audience for the first time, without compromising Ford's key values of Quality, Green, Safe and Smart. It beautifully demonstrates that the qualities that define an ST, are not exclusive to one model.
