This year at the Paris Motor Show, Japanese carmaker Mazda released the new Mazda6 sedan and wagon. The model enters the European D-segment and it accounts a little over 6.2 % of the total passenger car market. According to the carmaker both versions embody the KODO- Soul of Motion design philosophy. The new car features a new grille, flowing lines and a roofline that has been moved back by 100 mm. This modification offers a more dynamic character to the mid-sized car. The sedan version has a 2.830 mm long wheelbase and the interior space will be quite generous, according to the manufacturer.
The wagon option has a 2.750 mm long wheelbase and overall it is 4.800 mm shorter. The boot capacity of the wagon measures 522 liters and the sedan 489 liters. The chassis is lighter and it has a front strut and multi-link rear suspension which makes the car more agile, stable at high speeds and comfortable. In terms of power trains, the carmaker offers the new Mazda6 with three petrol units and two-diesel engines, all belonging to the new efficient Skyactive. The petrol range includes a 2.0-liter engine capable of developing between 143 horsepower and 162 horsepower, but also there is a 189 horsepower version available powered by a 2.5-liter.
The Skyactive-D 2.2 diesel is available in two variants which can deliver 147 horsepower and 173 horsepower. The carmaker will offer the new Mazda6 for sale on the European market before the end of the year and will be equipped with different elements like automatic braking, a lane departure warning system and a radar cruise control. The US customers will receive the new model starting next year, but only as a sedan version powered by a 2.5-liter Skyactive G gasoline engine capable of developing 189 horsepower. Later, the specialists might offer it with a 2.2-liter turbo diesel as well.
