Mercedes A-Class by Valmet

It seems that German model Mercedes-Benz A-Class compact will be manufactured in Finland at the Valmet Uusikaupunki facility starting next year until 2016. This information came from Valmet Automotive and Daimler AG. Valmet will begin work right away and the contract is expected to be finalized before the end of this year. Plans are to build more around 100.000 units until 2016. Daimler will continue producing the new A-Class in its own manufacturing facility. The model will have its market launch this year in September.

According to Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible of Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Vans, the Mercedes A-Class is so popular between their customers that they needed to ask Valmet for help producing more units. They have a 40.000 unit order so far. There is no problem what so ever for them to produce more in a short time as the engineers had a lot of past experience. Valmet already has different common projects with Daimler with their roof manufacturing business in Germany and Poland as well.

The specialists are looking for offering high quality performance. This collaboration between Daimler AG and Velmet is very important to ValmetAutomotive and it only shows the competitiveness of the services offered by the company and reflects the quality of their work. Between 300 and 400 previous temporarily laid-off employees will be called back to work and also the specialists will hire some hundred of new ones from 2014 depending on how the project develops and how they can handle the volume of product lines. This is all the carmaker revealed on the matter, so far.
