As we all know, the MG brand is back and it seems that is has something really special prepared. We are talking about a new special edition of its mid-size lift-back model. Why? They want to mark its return to the British Touring Car Championship, or BTCC. The model is question is the new MG MG6 BTCC edition that made its first public appearance during the final round of the 2012 MSA Dunlop BTCC at Brands Hatch, where MGKX Momentum team driver Jason Plato finished third. According to the carmaker, there are no mechanical upgrades made to the MG MG6 BTCC.
Anyway, if you do not know yet, it receives power from a 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine capable of delivering 158 horsepower. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds and to reach an electronically limited top speed of 120 mph. This new package offered to the MG6 provided new and interesting cosmetic and equipment features. In terms of exterior we will find a matt black roof and 18-inch alloy wheels to transfer the output to the road, with black gloss sills shod covered in Dunlop times measuring 225/45R18. The list continues with door mirror covers, lower front air dam, rear bumper, but also a rear spoiler. When it comes to paint finishes, customers can choose between Arctic White and Union Blue. On the front grille we will find a BTCC badge and on the bonnet extension, front doors and wings we will see the MG KX Momentum Racing team colors.
In terms of standard equipment the carmaker provides front sport seats, a navigation system, and power folding and electrically heated exterior mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control and a lot more. The starting price for the model for the UK market was established at GBP16.995.
