The 2012 MINI Cooper Coupe proves to be an injection of variety to the small car segment, being the first two-seater in the MINI's current model range. The car is a new reinterpretation of the super-compact sports car class as it offers its future customers unrivalled handling agility together with the best performance figures in the model portfolio. The sharply raked A-pillars give the car an extraordinarily sporty presence, while the brand's identity is underlined by the characteristic design principles and exclusive MINI details. The integrated roof spoiler provides a distinctive roof form featuring optimised aerodynamic properties and the active rear spoiler optimises airflow at higher speeds. The loading becomes much easier due to the wide and extremely high-opening tailgate, while the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit is oavailable as standard.
Concerning the powertrain, the engineers from MINI used the latest generation of four-cylinder engines in the range, delivering the following figures: MINI John Cooper Works Coupe with 155 kW/211 hp, MINI Cooper S Coupe with 135 kW/184 hp, MINI Cooper Coupe with 90 kW/122 hp and MINI Cooper SD Coupe with 105 kW/143 hp, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and a six-speed automatic optional for MINI Cooper S Coupe, MINI Cooper Coupe and MINI Cooper SD Coupe.
The car's weight balance was slightly shifted further forward thanks to the innovative measures and pedestrian protection systems which are meant to enhance the body rigidity.
The interior redefines quality with the roof liner offering extra headroom for the driver and front passenger, while new upholstery variants, exterior mirror colours, trim strips and Colour Lines offer additional scope for customisation.
The brand's typical premium character is underlined by the high-quality standard equipment and innovative options. Optional equipment includes black headlight housing, xenon headlights, Adaptive Headlights, Comfort Access, automatic climate control, automatically dimming rear-view mirror and exterior mirrors, storage package and preparation for a rear luggage carrier rack.
