Nissan Titan truck

The full-size truck market seems to have a difficult period in the American vehicle market. There are only a few foreign carmakers that managed to bring their cars in the US. One of them is the Japanese Nissan which only sold 21.994 unit of its Titan last year. Apparently the model is not competitive enough when it comes in a confrontation with some American brand. After the arrival of the 2013 Ford F-150 EcoBoost and the 2013 Ram 1500, a lot of carmaker had to suffer.

We had the opportunity to see the Nissan Titan for the first time eight years ago and ever since it received a lot of upgrades. Despite of its age, the model still looks pretty good. It has a relatively short front overhang and tasteful chrome grille and bumper. It has expandable two mirrors offering excellent visibility from the seat of the driver. Designers did not do a lot of modifications in terms of interior along the 8-year period, but still it looks way better than the Silverado, which is about to be replaced soon. The A-pillar trim on the model comes with gaps large enough to effectively park this truck in. if you want to connect it to an iPod or charger your phone, bummer, it is impossible and this is a very serious situation for consumers who use their trucks as mobile workstations. The new Nissan Titan comes with an optional 8-speaker unit as well, for the ones that always want more.

It receives power from a 5.6-liter V8 engine capable of generating 317 horsepower and 385 lb. ft. of torque. The bad news is that its competitors also got performance upgrades. The Titan seems to be far from being a good bargain and to top it all, the fuel economy and the connectivity are not really helping. Apparently the Japanese carmaker is preparing a successor which will arrive in 2014. autoblog
