Porsche 911 Carrera

The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera had its world debut at the 64th Franfurt Motor Show, in Germany, a car model that beautifully embodies tradition, modernity, power and elegance. It remains unmistakably a 911 due to its precisely designed details, the exciting contours and the stretched silhouette. The typical sports car exterior dimensions were retained, such as the 911's trademark wide-arched wings, which emphasize the wider front track and make the new 911 Carrera models sit even more solidly on the road. The remodelled exterior mirrors are accommodated on the upper edge of the door, being aerodynamically advantageous and emphasizing the new design line and visual impression of width. The lightweight body made of an intelligent aluminum-steel construction reduced the total weight by up to 45 kg. The superb craftsmanship of the interior took its cues from the Porsche Carrera GT, welcoming the driver with the high-mounted shift lever or gear selector located especially close to the steering wheel in typical motorsport fashion, and an instrument cluster with five round instruments. Furthermore, the new 911 Carrera and Carrera S raise the performance and efficiency with less than ten litres of fuel per 100 kilometres and the CO2 emissions have been lowered by up to 16 per cent. These achievements were possible by making use of the auto start/stop system, followed by thermal management, electrical system recuperation and the world's first seven-speed manual transmission, the PDK. The 911 Carrera with PDK needs only 4.6 seconds to sprint from a standing start to 100 km/h. The Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilisation system is available for the first time on the 911 Carrera S, further enhancing the driving dynamics by reducing lateral inclination when cornering.
Prices in Germany are 88,038 euro for the 911 Carrera and 102,436 euro for the 911 Carrera S, including 19 per cent VAT and market-specific equipment.
