Carmaker Porsche started developing the new generation 911 all-wheel drive Carrera and Carrera 4S both in the coupe and cabriolet variants. The first modification refers to the Porsche Traction Management system which is now 143 pounds lighter in comparison with the 997 Carrera 4S. Other changes include the cross light connecting the tail lamps moving up a bit and going what appears to be all LED illumination. The carmaker also offered a lot of other elements that improve gas mileage even with more power and speed.
The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S has an engine capable of developing 400 horsepower. This enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds and to reach a top speed of 185 mph. The fuel economy reaches 26 mpg on combined cycle. All the output is being transferred to the wheels through an optional 7-speed PDK dual clutch transmission. The carmaker offers the 7-speed manual gearbox as standard. The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S also receives adaptive cruise control, a sliding glass sunroof and the Sport Chrono pack for the models equipped with the manual transmission.
The model also receives automatic double-declutching during downshifts when it comes to Sport Plus mode. We will have the opportunity to see the two models next month at the Paris Motor Show. The ones interested should know that the cars will be available in Germany for purchase before the end of this year and the North American customers can buy it starting February 2013. The all-wheel drive 911 Porsche Carrera 2 Coupe will have a starting price of $91.030. The Cabriolet variant will have a starting price of $102.930. Now, the 911 Porsche Carrera 4S will cost $105.630 and the Cabriolet version will be priced at $117.530.
