This last spring, SpeedART specialists have released two teaser renderings and now, time has come to see exactly what they have planned for the 3rd generation Porsche Boxster also known as the 981. The aftermarket specialists will launch soon the tuning program that has been keeping them so busy these last few months. The name of the cosmetic and performance upgrade package is called SP81-R and so that you know, it is very complex. The ones interested should know that they offer different customization options and they start with two performance kits developed for the S models, but also for the standard car, but first thing is first.
The engineers started with the Stage 1 kit that increases the output of the 2.7-liter flat-six to 261 horsepower. To be more precise, it boosts the output by 20 horsepower and 20 Nm of torque. After the modification, the Boxster S can produce 311 horsepower with its 3.4-liter flat-six. How was this possible? Well, the Stage 1 kit offers a specially made exhaust system that has sport-catalysts and manifolds or headers. Moving on, we have the Stage 2 kit which enables the ECU to increase the output of both engines by some more 30 horsepower and 30 Nm of torque. This is what SpeedART has prepared so far, but according to them, soon a bolt-in-turbo kit will be available.
This will enable the Porsche Boxster 981 S to develop 80 horsepower more. The kit will also include a Titanium sport exhaust system for the ones that simply adore racing. To transfer the output to the road, the 981 model is available with a choice of 20- and 21-inch wheels with different finishes. On the outside, the aftermarket specialists offer side panels with carbon fiber applications, a rear wing, a rear diffuser and so on. The interior was not forgotten, but take a look in the gallery below for more details.
