Finally, Volvo and Polestar Performance have reached a common point. The aftermarket specialists will offer a tuning program to a production version of the Volvo C30. Actually, to be more precise, the two companies will develop a limited-production version of the Volvo C30 compact hatchback. It seems that only 250 customers will be able to enjoy their new achievement, all from North America. The new limited edition will be available on the market starting this November and the starting price was established at $32.445, including the destination charge of $895. The new model has as base the C30 T5 R-Design variant capable of developing 225 horsepower, but the new model is a bit more expensive. To be more precise, it will cost $3.700 more, so if it will be worth it or not, you can only say.
The tuners offer a set of performance and styling upgrades that are very hard to find else ware, if not impossible. Under the hood, the specialists will hide a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbocharged engine fitted with a reprogrammed ECU. This will actually increase the output by 23 horsepower and 37 lb. ft. of torque, reaching 250 horsepower and 273 lb. ft. of torque in the end. Even if it will be capable of producing more power, the fuel consumption will remain unchanged. Just like the Volvo C30 R-Design it will have a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city, and 29 mpg on the highway. These are the models equipped with the manual transmission. The ones fitted with the optional 5-speed Geartronic automatic unit will have a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
In terms of exterior, all 2013 Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition vehicles will have a Rebel Blue finish. The cars will also have a special numbered plate on the inside. To send the power to the road, the engineers provided 17-inch Styx alloy wheels and a matte black finish. In terms of standard equipment, the new 2013 Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition models include glass sunroof, LED daytime running lights, active dual Xenon headlights and so on.
