Volvo XC60 R-Design

Volvo carmaker had a very unpleasant surprise with its XC60. Last year the model reached the bottom if the sales and there is not a clear explication for it. One of the variants can be the bad marketing, dealers or maybe just the wary of Scandinavian brands as a result of what happened to Saab. No matter what happened, the carmaker has a plan to attract more interested people and not only on its CUV, but the entire brand, of course. Polestar seems to be the answer. The Volvo XC60 is actually one of the first models to receive a performance infusion from Polestar and they hope this will work. The collaboration between the two started back in 2010 with the debut of a 450-horsepower Polestar C30 concept. This summer we had the opportunity to see the Polestar Volvo S60 concept capable of developing 508 horsepower.

Now, the carmaker is thinking of modifying the Volvo XC60 R-Design, making it one of the best products the brand has ever had. Polestar took care of the visual aspects. Its basic shape is one if the most attractive crossover designs in its class. The package includes a silk metal finish trim on the side mirrors, door moldings, skid plates, twin tailpipes and so on. The Polestar badge can be found either on the grille, front fender of rear lift gate. Other models that received the Polestar package get a blue badge situated on the left of their engine identification on the rear of the vehicle, but the S60 and the XC60 are the only available models with R-Design trims and that is why there is no way of telling how will the two performance packages live together. Under the hood it hides a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine capable of developing 325 horsepower and 354 lb. ft. of torque. The starting price for the Volvo XC60 was established for $33.300.
