Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster

British carmaker Aston Martin revealed the new V8 Vantage roadster. This model is actually a convertible version of the V8 Vantage Coupe. We had the opportunity to see the soft-top version for the first time in 2006 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The entry-level V8 Vantage Roadster is more appealing after the specialists added some new features. It was built on the improved VH architecture with aluminum chassis with aluminum magnesium alloy, composite and steel body panels. The rigidity was affected when the roof was removed and this is why the carmaker added a stiff cross member to the platform and made other minor tweaks. The soft top opens and closes at the touch of a button in approximately 20 seconds.

Under the hood it hides a 4.7-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine capable of generating 430 horsepower and 361 lb. ft. of torque. The transmissions available to send the output to the road include a rear mid-mounted six-speed manual and a rear mid-mounted Sportshift II 7-speed single clutch automated transmission. It seems that a limited slip differential is offered as standard, driving only the rear wheels. The output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 180 mph. To handle the extra power, the brakes were improved in a very visible way and the tires are now 10 mm wider.

To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have offered 19-inch alloy wheels covered in Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires measuring 245 / 40 ZR 19 on the front axle and 285 / 35 ZR 19 on the rear one. Apparently the interior of the model was not modified a lot. The carmaker established a starting price of $138.200 for the 2013 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster equipped with the SportShift II. We have to admit this new model is a veritable sports car.
