Audi A3

Germans from Audi have decided to remove the roof of the latest generation A3 Series, only a few days before the official debut which will take place at the 2013 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show. Some of the highlights of this new models refer to the longer chassis built on the one of the sedan model and to a larger boot capacity. The specialists have mentioned the fact that this variant will only be sold in North America. The new A3 has more space inside and it is 50 kg lighter in comparison to the previous model thanks to the MQB platform and the broader use of lightweight materials like, for example, aluminum bonnet.

The European customers will receive it with a variety of engine choices including two petrol units. The first one is a 1.4-liter TSI unit capable of generating 138 horsepower and the second one is a 1.8-liter TSI that has as output 178 horsepower. There is a diesel option as well, a 2.0-liter turbo capable of generating 296 horsepower and a smaller one, a 1.6-liter turbo diesel capable of producing 108 horsepower.

The S3 performance model will come equipped with a 6-speed S tronic which enables the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and to use 7.1 liters of fuel per 100 km. Other options in terms of transmission include: a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch S tronic and a bit later, Quattro all-wheel drive models. The engineers have offered LED headlamps, power steering, S tronic and air conditioning operation for some models and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. Moving on we also have to mention MMI Navigation plus and the Audi Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension control system. The carmaker will reveal more details during the Motor Show, so soon.
