Audi RS5 Cabriolet

This year in September we had the opportunity to see the great looking Audi RS5 Cabriolet for the first time at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Now, only weeks before it goes on sale both in the US and Europe, the German carmaker has decided to provide a series of images revealing the new model on the road.

Under the hood, the new Cabriolet hides a naturally-aspirated and high-revving 4.2-liter V8 engine capable of generating 430 Nm of torque. To transfer all the output to the wheels, the engineers have provided only the 7-speed S Tronic and no manual gearbox option. The 7-speed transmission is linked to its Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system that features the self-locking crown-gear center differential and also torque vectoring. This is not all the carmaker is offering, but as an option, customers will have the possibility to fit their car with a sport differential for the rear axle. This spreads the power between the wheels.

The new open-top model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and to reach a top speed of 250 km/h with the electronic speed limiter. Upon request, the carmaker can lift the limit to 280 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption, the new Audi RS5 Cabriolet with its V8 engine uses 10.7 liters of fuel per 100 km.

For example, on the German market the new RS5 Cabrio will cost EUR88.500. The carmaker has already confirmed the availability of the car in the US for the entire 2013, but unfortunately there is no info on the price list. Even so we expect the model will cost somewhere around $80.000. The Audi RS5 Coupe costs $68.900 in the US excluding taxes and delivery and the model sold in Germany costs EUR78.200. This is all for the moment on the matter.
