It seems that German carmaker Audi will introduce the 2013 Audi S3 Sportback next year. Its official launch will take place next year and in May it will follow the A3 Sportback models. According to the manufacturer the hot hatchback will continue to have the same S3 turbocharged engine despite the hot climate Australia has. If we go back a little, the previous generations were modified to be in alliance with the temperatures from the Land Down Under. The carmaker will start working on the five-door variant of the S3 right after they finish the production process for the three-door variant. More than this, the Germans plan to import the new turbocharged, all-wheel drive hot hatchback to Australia around the middle of next year.
The 2013 Audi S3 Sportback is powered by an all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged TFSI engine capable of generating 221 kW and 380 Nm of torque. If you are curious to know, this means it is 22 kW and 30 nm of torque more in comparison with the previous generation. It is also 33 kW and 50 Nm of torque than the modified models brought to Australia. In terms of performance, know that the output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds if the engine is paired to a 6-speed dual clutch S tronic transmission.
Things are a bit different if the model is equipped with the standard 6-speed manual transmission. It will need 0.3 of a second more to reach 100 km/h. Unfortunately there are no information on the five-door variant, but if we consider the weight difference between the two body shapes in A3 guise is approximately 30 kg, we imagine that accelerating times will remain almost the same. When it comes to the price, know that the Audi S3 found on the market now costs $71.200 and we expect not a big difference with the next one.
