Bentley Continental GT3

This weekend, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Bentley presented its new Continental GT3 race car, a model that is ready to set new records and impress a lot of fan and enthusiasts. The specialists have removed more than 1.000 kg of weight and managed to make the 4.0-liter V8 unit to produce 600 BHP in race specifications. They have developed a comprehensive aerodynamic package to make sure they are competitive.

The specialists are looking forward to getting the car on the track and proving its potential. The V8 unit provides a highly competitive power in a compact and lightweight package that is perfect for racing. To transfer the output to the wheels, the engineers have offered a carbon fiber prop shaft to an Xtrac 6-speed sequential gearbox with a limited slip differential. This mounted as a transaxle for optimized weight distribution. The gears are being completed through a pneumatic shift system, controlled by paddles mounted to the steering wheel. The steering system comes with hydraulic power-assistance, while braking is via ventilated iron discs combined with 6-piston calipers in the front and four-piston calipers on the rear. For the exterior, the specialists have tried to offer a comprehensive aerodynamic package to maximize down force with optimized drag.

The bonnet, bumpers, fenders and sills have been revised in order to optimize the drag coefficient of the car to assist with engine cooling. Despite the race elements, the GT3 remains a simple Bentley with the steering wheel, door pulls and seat all hand-trimmed by Bentley specialists at Crewe.
