BMW X5 Security Plus Concept

This year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW is proud to present the third generation of the Sport Activity Vehicle, together with a 3rd generation of a Security version that has as base the regular model. To be really precise, the BMW X5 concept Security Plus in the only vehicle in the class which fulfills the requirements of protection level VR6. The engineers have been working on developing a vehicle that meets the needs of risk-exposed private individuals and prominent public figures with enhanced security needs. The Bavarians have also developed a new version called BMW X5 Security which meets the requirements of protection level VR4 and provides reliable protection against general street crime. Both models combine effective occupant protection and generous comfort with the dynamic performance, agility and versatility.


The Concept X5 Security Plus protection concept has as base an armored passenger cell constructed from high-performance steel moldings and panels and offering secure protection for up to four occupants against assault from the most popular firearm, the AK-47 and we are sure you can agree. It has a security glass especially developed for this protection level and it is also resistant to attack by blunt weapons. Under the hood it hides a V8 petrol engine capable of generating 450 horsepower. It uses BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system, the BMW X5 Security Plus concept can be used even when we are talking about difficult roads.
