The Datsun automobile brand is nowadays almost forgotten although it had great success with the 510 Fairlady roadsters and later the Fairlady (240Z) coupes. However resurrection is on its way as Nissan announced that the name Datsun will revive in countries like Indonesia, South Africa, India and Russia. Datsun has just released its long waited model, the Datsun GO.
The Datsun GO is a name inspired from the first Datsun model produced in 1914, which was called DAT- GO. It has been teased several times by the producing company. The Datsun GO is based on the Nissan Micra and comes only in one engine variant that is the 1.2-liter engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The five door hatchback is 3785 mm long, 1635 mm wide, 1485 mm tall and it has a 2450 mm wheelbase.
The Datsun GO resembles a bit too much to the Micra. It has a similar exterior look, and the interior is not modified either. The only thing to mention is that the familiar glovebox has been replaced by a space under the dashboard. The handbrake and gear lever are set on the dashboard for space economy reasons. Datsun means dream, access and trust. And we know just have to see how reliable and surprising this vehicle is.
