650HP Ford Shelby GT500

The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 receives its power from an aluminum 5.8-liter supercharged V8 which raises an impressive output of 650 HP and 600 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of more than 200 mph, figures that make it the most powerful production V8 engine in the world. Its two new forged-aluminum wheels, new quad exhaust system, an aggressive splitter, as well as the front grille, set a performance-driven design standard. Furthermore, the optional Performance Package featuring SVT-designed Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and a Torsen limited-slip differential, represents a new feature for 2013. The Shelby GT500 is the ultimate Mustang and it is planned to hit the car markets next year. Jost Capito, director of Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business Development, stated that SVT kept the Shelby GT500 on the cutting edge of technology and took muscle car performance to new heights, as they had encapsulated every aspect of performance in that car, no matter the speed, racetrack or quarter-mile times. He also added that the daily driver would find the car to perfectly fit his or her needs. The impressive horsepower is the result of the optimization of every part of the powertrain, including a new cross-drilled block and heads, a new supercharger and updated camshaft profiles. The updated cooling system integrates a larger cooling fan, a more efficient charge air cooler, a higher-flow intercooler pump and an intercooler heat exchanger with volume increased 36 percent. The improved traction management includes a launch control system, a torsen limited-slip differential, a Brembo braking system, which offers drivers enhanced stopping power to help keep their car under control, both on the road and the track. Kerry Baldori, Ford SVT Global Performance Vehicles chief engineer, also commented that the adjustable shocks let them develop their car on the track without any compromise. The additional Track Package gives the enthusiasts the opportunity to upgrade their Performance Package, thanks to the external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler for further durability. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is going to be built at AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich.
