Ford Fiesta ST in the UK

Finally the British customers can now enjoy the new 2013 Ford Fiesta ST as the American carmaker has offered it in this market. In case you were wondering, this new model is actually the fastest and most dynamic small production performance car ever, as it features a precision-tuned and driver-focused power train and chassis that deliver the ultimate driving experience.

Under the hood, the new model hides a 1.6-liter EcoBoost petrol engine capable of generating 182 PS and 240 Nm of torque. This output enables the Fiesta to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and to reach a top speed of 137 mph. the RS Team managed to tune the power train, the suspension, the steering and also the brakes and in the end obtained optimized driving dynamics. The carmaker also introduced a lot of new features like, for example, enhanced Torque Vectoring Control and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control, rear disc brakes, and to transfer the output to the wheels the engineers have equipped the model with a 6-speed manual transmission. When it comes to fuel efficiency, the new Ford Fiesta ST delivers 47.9 mpg on a combined cycle and 138 g/km CO2 emissions.

This actually means a 20 % reduction compared with the previous generation Ford ST despite the fact that it produces almost 20 % more power than the 2.0-liter engine found in the first generation model. The low weight of the EcoBoost contributes towards improved handling and brings technologies including turbocharging, high-pressure direct fuel-injection and Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing. The model was subjected to 850.000 km of durability testing. Besides this, the carmaker has also decided to offer another 7.500 km of race track testing and 5.000 km of high speed testing just to be sure the car is ready for everything.
